We found a surplus of records with the help of the Librarian on staff at Key West’s Monroe Co. Library, who allowed us to make copies.
Repost from Thursday, January 04, 2007
As part of our Christmas gift to each other this year, my husband and I travelled to Key West, and tried to find more information on my ancestors in Key West. Something that was very apparent from the richness of my father’s oral history, was that our ancestors were pioneers of Key West and the Miami-Dade areas of Florida. The following is a list of surnames that I’ve gained from the documents I have acquired, which I will be adding to the search:
Surnames: Aguero/ de Aguerro, Blick, Crusoe, Demeritt, Hopffgarten, Huling, Knott, Messina, Monaco, Mulrennin, Rivas, Saunders, Trompeter, Valdez, Watkins
If only I’d known anyone was interested, I’d have given Dad Charles P. Aguero, Sr.’s name and phone number to talk with him. He just passed away this 2 weeks ago, March 20, 2008 in Orange City, Florida. He knew alot of the family ancestry, and it did not all get written or recorded, but my Mom, his third wife (after his first 2 passed away) Charlotte G. Aguero, who is 86 and still alive, knows some of the history from her talks with Charles and being his wife of 40 years and when we all lived in Key West, up until 1999, he and Mom attended several events for ancestors of Audubon, which was lovely.
